The Dating Debate By Chris Cannon

Our main character Nina is the ultimate book nerd. Valentines Day is around the corner, but it’s no surprise that she would rather be reading. Something she can’t do because her brother is intent on hooking her up with someone for the school dance. It’s not that he isn’t a good guy. Its just that he is not into Harry Potter and that just won’t do. Instead of telling him the truth she runs away right in to her next door neighbor. While trying to get out of one date to the dance she winds up with West. West has always been her strange neighbor, though most would say she is the strange one. Trying to slide his way out dance, he winds up with a new best friend. If its fate or a coincidence the two wind up spending everyday together. They feel comfortable sharing deep rooted problems except one. Will it keep them from going to the dance, or worse each other.

Review

I went into The dating Debate with very little expectation just based on the generic bio. I typically like couple on the cover, its the real reason I requested it. Once I got into the book I hadn’t realized I was almost done. There is a subtly to the novel. Chris Cannon is a genius with characters. They were so believable. I felt like Nina when you say you don’t like a boy to everyone and in your mind your like excited that he even knows who you are. This a true contemporary romance through and through. I like how the main problem was serious enough to make the chaos worthy, but it didn’t play so deep of a role that readers will want a realistic depiction of the illness. At least I hope. I gave The dating debate 5/5 stars. I hope to read more books by Chris Cannon.
