Denying the Duke by Callie Hutton

Alex and Patience had teenage love. They had everything from secret kisses to horse ride adventures. Unfortunately the four days came short after Patience was promised to another. Young love could not persuade pushy parents and an arranged marriage to Alex’s brother.

4 years later and Alex has hardened. After running into under difficult circumstances. What he doesn’t know is that Patience is just as broken. Though the love between them seems to flow easily the truth doesn’t.

Plot:

The truth goes both ways.

Negatives:

The story had a potential to go deeper and have more substance. There were the couple could have solved there problems with communication but seemed to solve it with sex. Also the beginning seemed to wrap up in a neat little bow instead of taking an alternate route to solve life’s problems.

Positives:

Alex had such a protective nature and it was very attractive. I also loved that Patience was like her name and patient. She was nurturing to her father and even Alex at times even when they didn’t deserve it.

My Thoughts:

I enjoyed this classic tale of the 19th century. I loved that Patience wanted to wait until she had uncovered the problems with Alex. I just wish she hadn’t fallen into the lust. I love a good young love story because I believe in it. Puppy love is something I draw towards. I gave the novel a 3.5/5 stars. I would love to read more by this author,
