12 Days of Dash and Lily reenters the world of Dash and Lily’s book of Dares. Rachel Cohn and David Leviathan team up again to show us how our characters Dash and Lily are doing since their romance. In 12 Days of Dash and Lily we flash forward one year later. All is not as it was. Lily has lost herself due to some family problems. Dash is struggling to find a way to support Lily. With Christmas approaching the two struggle trying to keep their lives and relationship in tact.
Dash and Lily can’t seem to get it together. Lily is growing up and starting to explore. She wants to be adventures, but wishes Dash would as well. Dash likes how things were. He misses how happy and free Lily use to be. He tries to say the right things but they all fail. The two must decide to stay together or break up.
There was nothing special about the book. I didn’t fall back in love with the characters. There was no need for the story.
The story was written naturally. Rachel Cohn and David Leviathan seem to know exactly how a teenager feels and reacts. I completely identify with Lily at that age. I wished that guys would just understand what I was thinking, without me telling them.
I felt like this book was a bit unnecessary. I do grasp what Rachel Cohn and David Leviathan were trying to convey. Their message was that all happily ever afters don’t always stay happy. Sometime life interferes and cause your to change who you are or who you want to become. It also up to everyone to decide what they want to stay and go in their life. I gave the book a 3 out of 5 stars. I enjoyed the book more than others seem to. I wouldn’t say this is a must read, but it was a new enlightenment.
