Dash and Lily’s book of dares is a well written book about two coming of age teenagers. Dash is a teenager with a negative look on life. He is someone who only accepts the truth. He doesn’t look for hope or belief in something special. Which means christmas is not his favorite time of the year. His only companions are the pages from books. Lily is the total opposite. She loves christmas time and every part of it. Lily has always been very emotional and her parents not being there this holiday is hitting her hard. With her brother calling her inexperienced, she is pressured to leave a journal at a book store for a stranger to take. Dash is the one who finds this journal. With his family gone also, he finds the journal interesting. But instead of following the instructions completely he leaves some instructions of his own. Over the holiday they leave dares for one another while sharing a parts of themselves. At the same time Dash wonders if Lily will live up to her words. While Lily if trying to decide who she really is. Together they find out if they can control fate and love.
Honestly I enjoyed this story. It was amazing that dash and lily were opposites but when writing they had so many things in common. Each person had totally wrong ideas about the other. I’m glad I waited until christmas to read this story cause any other time would it would have been harder to get through. I only gave the book 3 out of 5 stars because most of it was unbelievable. teenagers don’t worry about the mysteries of love and they probably wouldn’t have taken the dares farther than the book store. Overall good but really no point to the book honestly.
