Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by JK Rowling

Harry has always had a harsh life from losing his parents, to staying with this horrible aunt and uncle. They treated him like a slave. Harry slept in the cupboard under the stairs.  It wasnt that the Dursley’s hated children,  they treated their own son like a king. His name was Dudley. He was a mean boy who made fun of Harry at home and school. Despite all this Harry had a great out look on life and he took chances. Even if it was just to sneak food when they left him starving. His whole life Harry never really knew much about his parents. He only knew that they died in a car crash that left a lightning bolt scar on his forehead.  Every now and then he would get a strange memory if a green flash of light. His whole life strange things happened to him like being able to avoid Dudley by ending up on the school roof. The fact that every time someone cut his hair it grew back as if it was never touched. One particular time at the zoo, because the Dursley’s couldnt get rid if him, he made Dudley and his friend fall into a snake habitat.

His whole world changed when he started getting letters that his uncle refused to let him read. After the Dursley’s many attempts to move him away a strange man named Hagrid came into his life and announced he was a wizard. He told Harry about his parents and how they died by the hands of a powerful wizard named Voldermont. That very wizard was stopped because of Harry. No one knows how or why but it made Harry very famous. Real or not Harry was happy to leave the Dursley’s. Leaving with Hagrid opened up  a whole new world filled with witches, goblins, and of course Hogwarts! Hogwarts was the best school of magic. Everyone seemed to love harry except a boy named Malfoy, and his potions teacher Snape. Harry found himself befriending Ron Weasley, Hermoine Granger, and Neville Longbottom. They got into trouble together and finding adventures.  They uncovered secrets no student should.  Harry found out more about himself and learned he was brave. Feeling obligated to save the world Harry and his friends took on their riskiest adventure yet and try not to be expelled. Will he always be the famous Harry Potter.

I loved this book. Way more than the movie. I found it interesting that J.K Rowling started the book in Vernon Dursley’s point of view. What was up with that? There are so many small details that made me smile. Harry and Rons friendship was cute. I like that Longbottom was so brave. The fight between Harry’s gang and Malfoy’s was hilarious. Overall a light read with so many heartwarming characters.

5/5 stars
